Help making Mimic fullscreen and some other ?s

Postby hollywood » Mon Jan 19, 2009 12:33 pm

I love your mimic style!! I have a few questions for you. Is it possible to have it stretched to the full width of the users monitor? I have a larger monitor so I would like it full screen and when someon has a smaller monitor it would fit their screen. I imagine it is a (width 100%) thing but Im not sure how to implament it. Here is my forum (http://www.steelheadstalkers.com/forum). I thought that the image at the top would be a problem when someone with a larger monitor uses the forum but could it be possible to add an image that is really wide and as a user screen gets larger the image would just strech out? I'm not sure if that makes sense but it might work. Finally is there a way to make it so when someone clicks on any of the forum boxes that it takes them to that post (so you dont have to click on the name of the post just anywhere around it). Thanks again for a great style and all of your help!

Sorry for piggy backing on your post, but I too would like the (width 100%) thing for my site HelterSkelter
:)

well ive looked at both templates and they were designed as fixed width from the begining. The spanning center image is one piece. To make them both 100% would mean starting over from the begining with new images, css and completely different code. I may do this in the future, but I presently just dont have the time available that would be required.
phpbb recently released a very similar tempate called ProsilverSE
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style=3
It is released as fixed width but I will look and see if it is adjustable.

violative, I have updated your proVistaC, but your index_home is extremely difficult because it is missing a ton of code. Ive been trying to complete the divs and remove the open tags.

MiMic is a clone of prosilver, but the images I added are fixed in width. I looked at prosilver special edition and it is very similar but it is not using fixed width images. I will make a new changeable MiMic using prosilver se, but even though it will be a fairly simple project, it will probably take me the better part of a week due to my available time atm

*Violative, I moved your post here to save some confusion

That would be awesome! I love your MIMIC style and it would be great to have it full screen width. I also like the way the top image is larger than the regular prosilver style and I like the colors you chose as well. We could then add an image that could be stretched to the full width as well. Thanks for your hard work!

Thats perfect Awesome!! Can you tell me what to change to give it a minimum width and a max width? Also do you know why there is a scroll bar at the bottom of the screen on the MIMIC SE style? Thanks for all of your help.

you can add min width and max width in wide.css, but IE does not recognize it. There are a few tricks though.

open styles/mimic_se/theme/common.css
FIND

Code: Select all
  1.     /*font-size: 62.5%;          This sets the default font size to be equivalent to 10px */
  2.     font-size: 10px;
  3.     margin: 0;
  4.     padding: 27px 0;

AFTER, ADD

Code: Select all
  1.    overflow-x: hidden;
